MCQ
Lee Alexander McQueen is an artist with both dark and romantic vibes. His designs were inspired by his personal life, often reflecting his emotional state, from his difficult childhood to the dilemmas of the adulthood. The alt fashion created by McQueen became a sort of a mirror of his psyche, his collections replete with dark and shocking elements. A fun fact: his theatrical catwalk shows had inspired even such big names as… Tom Ford! One of the first, and most shocking, McQ catwalk shows was a 1999 collection “The Overlook”, combining the preindustrial imagery with post-industrial alienation of a contemporary man. The finale of the show featured a model, Shalom Harlow, turning atop a moving platform like a music box figurine, while two robots, suddenly brought to life, sprayed her with paint. Pretty unique, don’t you think? Well, welcome to the fantastical world of Alexander McQueen.
