When Onitsuka Tiger was already well established as a sports brand, its founder, Kihachiro Onitsuka, came up with the idea of creating a new sports brand – Asics CORP – with collaborators. Already in the late 1970s, the Japanese progressive jogging shoes with innovative Asics gel cushions began to set the standards for running silhouettes in general, and the GEL Lite or GEL Kayano series are now absolute classics among the Asics trainers.
