The Veja Story
To really get to know Veja and its sustainability values, it’s good to go back to the origins. The brand was founded in 2004 by two French entrepreneurs, Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion, who wanted to create sneakers that were not only cool but also produced ethically.
They went to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil to meet the indigenous rubber tappers who were practicing sustainable rubber extraction. This was the starting point of the first Veja sneakers.
From the very beginning, Veja was transparent. The founders wanted to create a brand that would challenge the fashion industry by giving consumers a look into the production process, from raw materials to the final product.
Over the years Veja expanded its range and introduced new materials like organic cotton and recycled polyester. The brand also partnered with fair trade cooperatives in Brazil to ensure artisans were paid fairly and worked in good conditions.
