The N3B parka is a piece of outerwear that originated as a military necessity. Alpha Industries first produced the N3B in 1959 as a part of the U.S. Air Force's cold-weather gear. These Alpha Industries Jackets are specifically designed for Air Force ground and crew members who have to work in freezing climates. The initial designs featured a silk shell that later evolved into a more durable blend of nylon and cotton.

The N3B parka is referred to as a "snorkel parka" due to its distinctive hood design, which provides extra protection from harsh weather conditions. It was originally made with a sage green outer shell, but after several changes in materials and colors keeping in mind both military and fashion, they came up with a better version of this jacket. By the mid-1970s, the insulation was upgraded from wool to polyesterwadding, making it lighter and warmer.

The N3B Men’s Jacket focuses on a military-inspired design, which includes a full-lengthstorm flap, reinforced elbow patches, and a snorkel hood. The hood is lined with faux fur, with an adjustable drawcord for enhanced protection. The jacket's silhouette is designed to be unisex, offering a core fit that falls at mid-thigh, making it versatile for various body types and styles. It comes in different colors like sage green, black, and slate blue.

The N3B parka is made from 100% flight nylon, known for its durability and water resistance. This fabric allows the jacket to withstand harsh weather conditions while remaining lightweight. The interior of this jacket features a polyester filling that provides insulation without adding bulk. Along with a nylon shell, the jacket includes a faux moutin lining which provides warmth and comfort.

Styling and Care for N3B Parkas

To care for and clean these jackets, it is recommended to dry-clean only. However, if washing at home, use a gentle cycle with cold water and chemical-free detergent. For drying, you can simply use a low heat setting in the dryer to prevent damage to the faux fur.
